Common questions from owners stepping up from Free.

Monthly or yearly — which should I pick?

Yearly saves $45 compared to 12 monthly payments ($99/yr vs $144/yr) and still gets you the same 2 credits. If you're sure you'll use it for a year, yearly is the better deal. Monthly is fine if you want to try it first — you can switch to yearly anytime.

What happens to my free credits if I don't use them?

Credits reset every plan year. A yearly subscriber gets 1 new transfer + 1 new clear on each renewal date. Unused credits from the previous year don't roll over — use them or lose them.

Can I upload photos of my guns myself or do you take them?

You upload them yourself — from your phone, your computer, or directly in the vault. There's no photo service. Unlimited uploads, any size (within reason), JPEG/PNG/HEIC all supported.

What size is the bill of sale storage?

No practical limit. Upload full PDFs, scanned receipts, appraisal reports — each under 10MB. Attach multiple documents per firearm. Everything stays in your vault, encrypted, tied to the record.

If I cancel, do I lose my photos and history?

You can export everything to CSV + ZIP at any time. If you cancel, your photos and history stay read-only for 30 days so you can download. After 30 days they're permanently deleted. Your core records (up to 3 firearms) drop back to the Free tier.

Can I upgrade to Legacy or Trust later?

Yes, any time. Upgrading is prorated — you pay the difference for the rest of your plan year. Downgrading to Free or Gun Safe also works at renewal; your records stay intact, but features above your new tier become read-only.

What about NFA items — suppressors, SBRs?

NFA-specific tracking (tax stamps, trust documents, Form 1/4 records) is on Gun Trust. You can still add a suppressor or SBR as a regular firearm record on Gun Safe, but you won't have the NFA-specific fields or document vault.

How do the free transfer and clear credits actually work?

When you check out on GunTransfer or GunClear while signed in, your Gun Safe account shows the credit inline. Applying it is one click. The credit covers the full $50 transfer or $10 clear — no discount code needed.
